# Thinking modes

> Choose how hard Fig thinks — Lite or Pro — to match the task.

Fig can put different levels of effort into your request. You can switch between
the two modes right inside the chat, depending on how simple or complex the task is.

## The two modes

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Lite" icon="bolt">
    Fastest and lightest. Great for quick, simple tasks and fast answers.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Pro" icon="brain">
    Deeper thinking for bigger or more complex work, where quality matters most.
    Takes a little longer.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

<Note>
  Not sure which to pick? **Lite** handles most quick requests. Switch to **Pro**
  when a task is complex or the result really matters.
</Note>

## Choosing the right mode

* Use **Lite** for short questions, quick edits, and simple requests.
* Use **Pro** for complex or important work — building a detailed website, deep
  research, or anything where you want Fig's best result and don't mind waiting a
  little longer.

<Tip>
  Lite uses fewer [credits](/plans-and-pricing), so matching the mode to the task is
  a simple way to get more out of your plan.
